If you don't know, you shouldn't be uploading videos. If you DO know, why are you posting them? As incredible as it may seem, I've recently been asked that exact question! I've also had sad and dirty, low-down postings made in a thread following my removal of Posts where the bands have been part of what's been on offer. There's a few mild ways I can express what I think of members who include them in their files, such as "rip-off merchants". Yes, some of you habitually trade with black bands constituting as much as 33-50% of the videos you regularly post. Let me say that I'm not exactly inexperienced at resizing and re-encoding. I know that occasionally we have to accept a small (2 or 3mm) band on both sides or top and bottom of a video. But when they fill up to 75% of the frame, my blood begins to boil at how corrupt, uncaring, totally selfish, disregarding and downright greedy some members are. Many members include them as part of their greediness in expanding the frame to increase their payout from the host. Being VERY kind, I describe these people as "unscrupulous". In actual fact, they're a despicable bunch of villains (and worse). Including black bands in a file is dishonest, disreputable and exploitative. Among the reasons they should never be in a video are these: You've uploaded a video, not a film of emptiness. That video should fill the window without being stretched/expanded and should be of good quality. It steals bandwidth - of both hosts and downloaders. It adds to network congestion (by being junk that serves no purpose, but has to be moved around). It makes downloads slower than they would otherwise be. It increases subscription to ISP's (someone has to bear the cost of transporting the crap). It fills people's HD's with junk. It unnecessarily wears away computers. It reflects badly on site, on Mods, and on the individual who posts the videos. It defrauds hosts by getting them to pay you for empty MB's. Anyone who gets paid for their downloads is acting criminally by engaging in the practice of supplying black bands. Basically, anyone who supplies black bands (empty, useless MB's) is a professional con merchant who cheats everyone who has anything to do with storing or downloading their files. For any boards I'm a named Moderator for, you can expect those offending videos to disappear from your thread. This also applies to any others that catch my eye as I go around the various boards. kalik

Наивно думать, что постеры будут перекодировать видео, чтоб увеличить размер.
Я уж не говорю про то, что добавление полос, вообще с этим не вяжется.
Размер можно увеличить тупо битрейтом.
