В общем дела с постфиксом такие - он нормально запускается, а после бесшумно падает. Поспрашивал людей на форумах, ошибка постфикса распространенная, но решения найти пока не удалось. Ни кто не сталкивался с данной проблемой?
в шеле при попытке отправить письмо пишется следующее:
/usr/sbin/sendmail: line 5: /var/qmail/bin/sendmail: No such file or directory /usr/sbin/sendmail: line 5: exec: /var/qmail/bin/sendmail: cannot execute: No such file or directory
Т.е. письма пытаются отправиться через qmail которого нет, как заставить отправляться письма через postfix ?
С удалением разобрался - ошибка зависемойстей, необходима принудительное удаление, но чувствую потом проблем будет еще больше... может кто подскажет где можно взять просто интерпретатор python 2.4 ?

ну похоже, что я этим добился лиш удаление qmail и vpopmail, а postfix как не работал, так и не работает...
Правда теперь функция mail начала возвращать true и в шелле не вылазиет ошибок, т.е. наверное письма пытаются отправляться через postfix...
В /var/log/messages есть такая строчка после запуска postfix:
Это сервер. Произошло это поле обновления панели управления в которую встроен qmail

Пишется, что он удален. Пробую снова установить postfix, тоже самое...
Как заставить vpopmail удалиться?

Дело в том, что python2.4 у меня тоже нету... я и его удалил ... ну так вышло )
