Project Description

PCR (Production Credits) is a data warehouse system for maintenance of Sales Incentives data.

The application is of highly critical importance as it influences salespersons compensation packages and has vast region coverage: Europe, Americas, Asia, etc.

The range of financial products processed by PCR includes all debt products - derivatives, CDS, CLN, etc as well as equity products.

Below are the technical features of PCR data warehouse:

° Oracle 9i, the migration to 10g is in progress and should be completed by the end of Q3,2008

° 1.5 Tb data

° contains several years of trades, each year featuring about 70m trades

° complex SQL-based logic for staging processing of trades which is optimized for processing multiple bulk trade volumes

° complex PL/SQL based logic for staging processing

° load/staging/reporting schemas for each processing stage

° star-like reporting schema with multiple intelligent mviews to support reports generation

Требования:

* The potential candidate would have the following skills&experience:

* ° Oracle 9i/10g thorough experience

* ° Good knowledge of Oracle internal mechanisms: checkpoints, redo logs, tx management

* ° PL/SQL - superior knowledge

* ° SQL optimization - superior knowledge

* ° VLDB experience - one terabyte would suffice

* ° Unix shell scripting basics

* ° Theory of Algorithms basics - is a must

* ° Spoken English would be a big plus but is not required

Обязанности:

° Will be responsible for translating business requirements to database design and delivering database solutions

° Develop new or modify existing programs and applications to solve business challenges.

° Maintain data import processes from external systems

° Analyze available information applying experience and systems knowledge to diagnose problems and identify solutions to meet user requirements.

° Play an active role in the design of programs and applications to solve identified business challenges

° Implement best practices and guidelines to database development

° Employ and promote clear, structured and consistent approach to database design and development, supposed to get rid of unnecessary complexity and to increase stability and manageability of the system

° Refactor SQL code - make it clear for understanding and manageable, getting rid of unnecessary complexity

° Provide guidance and support to other team developers on best practices and guidelines to database development

° Participate in the review process of other team members database code

° Discover performance issues affecting the system, conduct performance tuning

° Improve performance characteristics, such as response times and amount of resources consumed by the system
